EVIDENCE

THE AUTHENTICITY STANDARD

Look beyond the sparkle.

Gemstone stories are strongest when their facts can be checked. Learn how to separate general context from item-specific evidence.

A CLEAR DISTINCTION

Three kinds of statement, kept apart.

01

Regional context

A region’s gem tradition is background. It describes an area, not where a particular stone was found.

02

Item evidence

Origin, history or source of one stone is stated only when it is supported for that specific piece.

03

Laboratory and treatment

Treatment or laboratory conclusions are stated only when documented for the item. Appearance alone does not establish them.

OUR METHOD

How we use sources

01

We read the source.

We rely on the institution’s own wording.

02

We stay within it.

Public story language does not go further than the source supports.

03

We keep items separate.

Regional context is never presented as proof about an individual stone.

QUESTIONS

Clear answers, carefully.

Why do you cite institutional sources?

Because gemstone stories are strongest when their facts can be checked. These sources describe Sri Lankan gemstone occurrence, mining and cutting at a general level.

Do these sources prove where a particular stone came from?

No. They provide regional and industry context. Origin or treatment of an individual stone is stated only when it is supported for that item.

Can the linked pages change?

Yes. External pages can be updated or moved, so please open the source for its latest wording.

How do I ask about a specific stone?

Send a private enquiry through the contact page and name the listing. We reply personally.
